VOLUNTEERS:
We need parents to drive to the various performances and clean at the Covey show. Please fill out the Volunteer form by January 23rd. Even if you can’t help, we still need a form submitted because it includes a waiver for driving your dancer during the tour. See the volunteer page in this packet for more details on available positions.

RETIREMENT HOMES:
Due to lack of space, the retirement homes have asked that parents (who are not helping) not attend the performances at their facilities. Everyone is invited to attend the Library shows!

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:
Please refer to the Company Spring Tour Schedule.
  • All rehearsals, warm up classes and performances are mandatory. If you have a conflict, please speak with Allee or Kaya immediately (or email [email protected])!
  • We have specifically scheduled rehearsals and arrival times in an effort to value everyone's time. Please take note of start and end times and make every effort to be punctual. Students must be picked up after performances at the times indicated. We appreciate your consideration for our instructors’ time.
  • Mandatory meetings and notes: We will still be working to perfect the dances throughout the tour so they will be absolutely stellar at the Covey performance. Before each tour performance, we provide feedback on previous performances so we can continue to improve. These meetings are crucial to the growth of our dancers and the success of our show.
  • Please pay careful attention to which rehearsals require full hair and make-up and/or costumes and come prepared. Dancers are always required to have their hair in a bun and have dance attire.
  • Treat every rehearsal (not just dress rehearsals) as if it is a performance. This means giving full effort and focus. We are watching for performance readiness to determine if dances can be showcased for an audience.
  • Stay connected with us on BAND to stay up to date on any last minute changes. Instructions in the lobby.

DRESS REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCES:
  • Tickets for the Covey performance will go on sale January 20th and can be purchased over the phone, online, or in person at the Covey box office. We will send out ticketing links as soon as they are available.
  • Always triple check that you have everything you need before leaving your house. This includes required shoes, tights, costume pieces, hair and make up supplies, etc. Do this for each and every rehearsal and performance. See costume, hair and makeup info on the back.
  • Full Cast Clean Up: After the Covey performance, we need everyone to help load costumes and props, as well as sweep up their dressing areas. This can be done very quickly with everyone’s help.

COSTUMES:
  • Wear warm sweats and jackets to each performance! This is mandatory!!
  • For Dress Rehearsal, hair must be done in the required style. This includes hairnets, gel, etc.
  • Bring costumes needed for various pieces, as discussed in rehearsals.
  • POINTE SHOES: See pointe shoe hand out.
  • TIGHTS:
    • Foundations, Intermediate & Pre-Pro Companies: Capezio Seamed Professional Mesh Transition Tights (#9 or #9c) in ballet pink or Mariia Mesh Back Seam Convertible Tights in ballet pink. One pair will be provided to you by WBC. Please save these for the Covey Center performance.
    • Basics 3 Company: Weissman ballet pink tights which can be purchased on your concert order form or in the lobby. One pair will be provided to you by WBC. Please save these for the Covey Center performance.
  • BALLET SHOES:
    • For those wearing ballet shoes, new SODANCA CANVAS BALLET SHOES must be worn at the Covey Center. You may want to wear a clean, older pair of shoes to the retirement homes and libraries (we will be dancing on carpet which may cause your shoes to wear out quickly). Save a newer pair for the Covey Center performance. The SoDanca shoes can be purchased at WBC, or online. If needed, you can purchase a new pair of shoes, wear them at Covey and then save them for the June show. That way you have a new looking pair for both performances. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns.
  • Hair: See costume sheet
  • Other costumes provided by WBC

MAKEUP:
  • Blush, mascara, red lips) recommended. Darker stage makeup is not necessary until the theater performance.
  • Makeup MUST be worn on stage for the Covey show to avoid looking washed out. Apply makeup similar to average everyday wear, only darker.
    • FOUNDATION: Matte powder matching skin tone to prevent skin from becoming too shiny under stage lights.
    • EYES: Brown or black eyeliner, brown eyeshadows. Black mascara. Intermediate and Advanced dancers are required to wear false eyelashes. Other dancers can if they'd like.
    • BLUSH: Red or Pink Blush. DO NOT use browns. They look black on stage.
    • LIPS: RED lipstick. NO browns.
