ABOUT THE CONCERT
Since its inception in 2000, Wasatch Ballet has provided students with an exciting performance experience through its June recital. This annual staple of our dance studio is a rite of passage for many youngsters—a chance to shine in front of family and friends that they anticipate with nervous excitement all year.
A big part of the dance training process includes learning through performance. This experience helps build self-esteem, self-assurance, and contributes to a sense of confidence. Although performance opportunities can help prepare students for a possible career in dance, they also contribute to children’s success in non-dance activities. Onstage experience can result in better school presentations, improved social skills, and strong interview skills for future college or job opportunities. The rehearsal process is a tremendous learning experience as well. It helps the children develop retention skills, and by working with their classmates on a group performance, they learn the positive aspects of working as a team to create the best end result. Lastly, the most important benefit of the recital is the fun experience and the opportunity to make memories and friendships which will last a lifetime.
WBC offers students a professionally directed performance that allows dancers to demonstrate the results of a year’s hard work, dedication, and progress. Our Spring Concert is a unique experience because each year, our studio presents an enjoyable, original Story Ballet (with ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and more).
This year, we will be performing The Good, The Bad, & The Clever. It is an original ballet, created by Allison T. Wolsey and Stephanie Saul, with all original choreography by WBC’s faculty and guest choreographers.

We need you there!!

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM NOW UNTIL THE CONCERT

STEP #1 - WEEKLY CLASSES AND REHEARSALS
Now Through June 5

Classes have been working hard and are completing their choreography. Most classes will perform at least two dances. Jazz, Contemporary and Acro classes will perform one dance. It is extremely important that all students attend classes! It is difficult for the individual, the class, and the teacher if students are absent.
Commitment:

As a reminder, every student participating in the concert signed a form stating that they are committed to be in the show and will be in class and at all of the rehearsals. If your child will be absent due to a planned activity, please give us notice in writing. If your child is sick, please call in to the studio. Students with excessive absences will not be allowed to perform. Please make every effort to have your children in class so they will be ready to perform to the best of their ability.

Practice! Practice! Practice!
Students are encouraged to rehearse their recital dances at home. This year, you will receive your Rehearsal Music through File Sharing: we will email a Google File to you with your music (including all changes).
